Immediately give your dog a bath when you notice fleas on your dog. Use dish soap, which is best, or a natural shampoo. Wash your dog in the tub or the yard, then cover him with shampoo. Pay special attention to his belly and the undersides of his legs as fleas like to congregate in areas where its warm. Leave the soap on for five minutes. Then rinse well.

Comb your dog with a fine-toothed flea comb. This will pull out fleas and flea eggs. Dip the comb periodically in a bowl of soapy water to release and kill fleas. Between the flea comb and the bath, you will kill most or all of the fleas on your dog.
